Quantix study in Bucharest - Ilfov: The number of people running increased by 130% compared to 2014

Bucharest, 26.06.2019: Bucharest residents are becoming increasingly aware of the contribution of practicing a sport in maintaining health and they are starting to invest an important part of their free time in physical activities. Two of the most common practiced sports by urban dwellers are jogging and cycling, both of which have important benefits for the body.

According to a study conducted by Quantix Marketing Consulting on sports trends of the inhabitants of the Bucharest - Ilfov area, 49.3% of people went jogging in the last 12 months, an increase of 130% compared to 2014, and a percentage of 31.8% of respondents practiced cycling. Thus, running and cycling are among the top sport activities preferred by the population of this region, followed by fitness & bodybuilding exercises, swimming and football. In addition, there is a growing interest in participating in running competitions, 35.6% of respondents being participants in 2019 compared to 15.6% 5 years ago, which explains the growing number of competitive or non-competitive sporting events which have been organized lately. The study was conducted earlier this year, on the age segment 18-70, in the Bucharest-Ilfov area.

Greenfield Duo Challenge is the newest sports event with a route in Băneasa Forest, which combines the two activities (jogging & cycling) in a duathlon competition. Organized by Road Grand Tour and Băneasa Race, Greenfield Duo Challenge invites competitors to the starting line on June 30.

„Greenfield Duo Challenge is a new type of event in the sports race calendar organized in Băneasa Forest. We try to be creative, to design sporting events as attractive as possible in order to attract as many participants as possible. In addition, we aim to encourage a lifestyle in which practicing a sport is indispensable, regardless of age. The latest studies we conducted in the Greenfield neighborhood, in the immediate vecinity of the forest, show that 62.7% of the residents of the neighborhood walk through the forest regularly, 54.4% practice some form of running, and 34.2% ride their bikes off-road, on forest paths", said Răzvan Ionescu, Marketing Director of Impact, the supporter of the competition. The Greenfield Duo Challenge route will be suitable for all participants, both running and cycling, and registration can be done individually, or together. The race starts with 8 km of running on the forest alleys (easy off-road route) and continues with the bike route that amounts to about 20 km, most of which consists of a single trail.
